Network Print Servers – Managing Printers and the Network
The Network Print Servers are a great tool for companies to have in their offices to help in printing documents to be sent out across the network. These print servers can be installed through a process known as Instantiate or by using the Microsoft Server Management Tools that comes on the CD that comes with your server. This will install the print server and will also enable you to add devices to it such as printers and scanners. You can add the print server and then create a print report by choosing a format from the printer list that is populated on the print server. This test lab will then allow you to see your network performance and various different print reports that show such things as user response time, average CPU usage per instance, and peak user response time.
There are some benefits that come with Network print servers; the most obvious one being that it allows you to make use of multiple printers without having to purchase new ones for each one. It will also provide you with more security since there will be only one source of printer information and no separate systems will need to be set up. Also, it will improve your network’s reliability since there will be only one location for all printer information and all print jobs. One example of how this can be useful is when there are multiple employees that work off of different computers in the office. With this kind of setup, you won’t have to worry about duplicating the same print jobs over again.
